Singapore is a nation ruled by her stomach—food is as important as life itself here. In Orange Is The New Black’s Litchfield Cafeteria, food is also a big life line.
What better way to bring the Litchfield experience to Singapore than through the dining table?
For 3 days only, we took over an entire restaurant on Orchard Road, turning it into the Litchfield Penitentiary Cafeteria and bringing the OITNB universe into the heart of Singapore for the first time ever.
The Litchfield Cafeteria is a familiar backdrop to the drama and plot twists that happens in OITNB, and we helped bridge this closer to home through a fully immersive experience – complete with uncooperative kitchen helpers, mean prison wardens, scheming inmates, and sloppy prison food (with a gourmet twist served up by Chef Bjorn Chen). An exclusive party was also held specially for the media as well as superfans of OITNB, where they were given a sneak preview of Season 4’s opening episode.
Limited meal spots at the Litchfield Cafeteria were open to the public through Chope, a uniquely Singaporean reservation site, with seats being swiped up within minutes of their release—going down in history as Chope’s fastest ever “sold-out” listing.
While Singapore was devouring the experience, the rest of the world was tuning in, as news of it went viral. The Litchfield Penitentiary Cafeteria made headlines on Mashable, Cosmopolitan, Eater, and even Hollywood Life, ultimately spreading OITNB love from Singapore to the world.
